Astronauts H/F

Description Poste
The newly selected candidates will join the European Astronaut Corps, which is based at the European Astronaut Centre, Cologne, Germany.
ESA is a partner in the International Space Station (ISS) Programme.
ESA astronauts will therefore participate in spaceflights to the ISS, which typically last six months.

- Operational support of other space missions, i.e. as experts in the Columbus Control Centre in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany.
- Engineering support in future new development programmes within ESA's Directorate of Human Spaceflight.
- Scientific support to the science community in the development of scientific experiments and related procedures and processes.

Profil
Astronauts are ambassadors for space exploration. The European Space Agency is, therefore, in search of exceptional individuals, who are highly motivated, flexible, emotionally stable and gregarious and who possess strong communication, interpersonal and team skills.
Applications from female candidates are encouraged.
The application period will last from 19 May 2008 to 16 June 2008.
